Nahum 2:1-3:19 - Woe to the Bloody City

The prophet Nahum describes in detail the judgment that the Lord will pour out on the wicked city of Nineveh, which was literally fulfilled some fifty years later. In so doing, we can both see that God is sovereign and just when He judges and be comforted by the fact that God judges sin to deliver His people.

Nahum 1:1-15 - God Versus Evil

One hundred and ten years after their repentance during the ministry of Jonah, the city of Nineveh, now the capital of the Assyrian Empire, has returned to their sinful ways. God speaks now through another prophet declaring that His patience is exhausted and that Nineveh will be destroyed.

Jonah 4:1-11 - ”Should I Not Pity?”

After God graciously spares Nineveh, Jonah lashes out at God in rage. Yet God reveals that He is a God of compassion who desires His people to also be people of compassion.

Jonah 1:1-17 - Fleeing from the Lord’s Call

​The prophet Jonah was given an important mission by God to go to the great city of Nineveh. Instead, Jonah tried to run away in the opposite direction, only to find his progress impeded by the power of God. In this sermon, we see that we can be a lot like Jonah - rebelling against God's call on our lives and in great need of His grace.

Jonah 1:17-2:10 - Salvation Belongs to the Lord

​​Jonah finds himself drowning in the sea, when God unexpectedly saves his life by having him swallowed by a great fish. In this sermon, we look at this famous story and the psalm Jonah writes in response to his deliverance - a psalm that speaks to the believer's situation today.

Jonah 3:1-10 - The Overthrow of Nineveh

​​The Lord gives Jonah a second chance despite his previous failure, and the prophet finally comes to Nineveh. What happens next is one of the most amazing, miraculous events in all the Bible, and presents a powerful picture of what real repentance looks like.
